ABOUT THE 2014 SCOTTISH REFERENDUM

Take a stroll into Edinburgh as you stand at a crossroads. After years of debate, a historic referendum is presented to Scotland’s people: remain part of the United Kingdom, or forge an independent future? Delegates in this committee will immerse themselves in the socio-political complexities of the Scottish independence movement. From negotiating with Westminster to EU membership and beyond, every second counts as you shape Scotland’s political future. Will Alba seize its sovereignty and say yes to independence, or will the weight of uncertainty and external pressures keep the United Kingdom united?

David Sanchez

Under-Secretary-General

Class of 2027 l he/him

From the deserts of Hobbs, New Mexico, to the snow slush of Boston, David is no stranger to rather silly weather. Having fled to Boston in pursue of his BA in Linguistics and Political Science with minors in International Relations, Economics, and Public Health, David had no idea the significance of a simple flyer in his dorm common room. Never having done Model UN, he quickly immersed himself during his spring semester freshman year, where he served as Vice Chair for BosMUN XXIII Press Corps. Going on to make lifelong friends with his fellow dais, he went on to staff BarMUN XVII and BosMUN XXIV. Outside of the world of MUN, David is an active member of Alianza Latina, works as an RA, and enjoys a heavy study sesh at Mugar. Outside the BU bubble, he is an avid concertgoer (rip his savings account), loves a good frolic in the city, and enjoys setting his phone to Do Not Disturb while listening to Kali Uchis. David is truly honored to serve as your Under-Secretary-General for BarMUN XVIII and is excited to meet y’all!
