JAMES REGINALD COLIMON

Deputy Director of Global Affairs & Protocol, Mayor's Office of Economic Opportunity & Inclusion

As Deputy Director of Global Affairs & Protocol, James’s primary focus is to manage and strengthen the City of Boston’s international relations in the areas of friendship, trade, understanding, and cooperation. He coordinates and hosts visiting international delegations on behalf of the Mayor, supports Sister City agreements and cooperative relationships between Boston and international cities, and engages with the Consular Corps and other international partners in Boston and internationally..

Prior to joining the Global Affairs team, James worked in the Mayor’s Office of Intergovernmental Relations as the Liaison to the Boston City Council for three years. In this position, he was responsible for promoting and advancing the Mayor's agenda at the City level, including advocating with the Council and other parties. He served as principal liaison in all interactions between the Mayor, members of his Cabinet, Department Heads, and the Boston City Council.

Born and raised in Port-au-Prince Haiti, he has made Boston his home since moving to the U.S. over thirty years ago. He has dedicated his life to serving others. James holds a BA in Political Science and Foreign Languages from Salem State University, and an MBA in International Management from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey. He is an effective bridge-builder and a talented communicator, fluent in English, French, Haitian Kreyol and Spanish, with a working knowledge of Portuguese.
